At Dear Klairs, studying formula data is essential, but nothing replaces listening to real voices. Following our initial chats earlier this year, we picked up the phone again across March and April 2026 to speak with seven more customers.
We had open, unfiltered conversations with men and women aged 23 to 48—spanning skin profiles from acne-prone and dehydrated to hyper-sensitive—about their daily routines, skin anxieties, and honest product feedback.
These dialogues brought forward three core insights that are actively guiding our product formulations and design updates.
1. Calming Care After Heat Stress & In-Clinic Treatments
A recurring theme was the impact of localized heat. Whether caused by seasonal shifts, office heaters, hormonal flare-ups, or skin procedures like laser treatments and extractions, skin under heat stress quickly becomes reactive and vulnerable.
When the skin barrier is stressed, standard moisturizers often aren’t enough. Customers shared how difficult it is to find recovery products that offer deep protection without feeling heavy or suffocating.
As one interviewee explained, “When my skin feels thin and sensitive after certain treatments, I need something protective that seals in moisture and supports my skin’s comfort, without clogging my pores or feeling overly greasy.”
This feedback reinforces our commitment to developing specialized, barrier-fortifying formulas tailored specifically for post-procedure recovery and daily thermal stress.
2. How Minimalist Routines Create a Safe Haven for Sensitive Skin
For reactive skin types, multi-step routines can create more risk than relief. Several customers shared that they intentionally keep their routines minimal, streamlining down to a gentle cleanser and one or two effective soothing steps.
When a routine is simplified, every product must perform reliably without causing irritation. Long-time customers emphasized how Klairs provides that baseline peace of mind: “I’ve tried popular products that triggered breakouts or didn’t agree with my skin, but Klairs keeps my skin stable. I’ve used the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner and Rich Moist Soothing Cream for over three years because they don’t fail my sensitive skin.”
Others noted that the Blue Youth Activating Drop has earned a permanent spot on their vanity for its weightless, immediate calm: “It absorbs instantly with zero stickiness and an immediate cooling, calming sensation that it’s become an absolute essential step in my routine.”
3. Why Everyday Skincare Demands Thoughtful, Practical Design
A high-performing formula needs functional packaging to deliver a seamless experience. Our customers provided clear, practical feedback on where container design can better support daily application—for instance, one customer highlighted how a simple design tweak could upgrade her daily routine: “I love how hydrating the toner is, but I’d love a mist nozzle option so I can spray it directly on my skin during the day without needing cotton pads or contaminating my hands.”
We take container ergonomics just as seriously as ingredient quality. Based directly on these conversations, our design and product development teams are already working to refine container usability, tube flexibility, and dispensing mechanisms for future releases.
